Activities start again at Petits Frères des Pauvres and what better way to start the month of September than with a bingo?
On Wednesday September 14, the team of volunteers at the headquarters of the organization welcomed around thirty people from Paris and its suburbs. The program was a super lotto event, followed by the usual snack! A warm and friendly moment with laughter, thanks to our presenter Donatien who was in a great mood. A moment of sharing particularly important for the seniors, as Jeannine, who was unfortunate with the game, can testify:
“It was great! It’s the first time I’ve been here, we really enjoyed it. Next week I’m going to Nantes on holiday with you, I can’t wait to get there! I live in Clichy, but I’ll have to come back, today I didn’t win anything…”
Since 2019, the headquarters of the Petits Frères des Pauvres has moved to 19 cité Voltaire, in the 11th district. These new premises make it possible to centralize the different teams of the head office, but also to ensure a reception of the people served by volunteers from Paris region.
Every week, cultural and artistic workshops are organized, such as knitting, painting, drawing, and writing. Beyond simple entertainment, these meetings are an opportunity for the lonely elderly people to enjoy warm and hearty meeting. These convivial moments allow them to express themselves and to be listened to, all in a secure place outside their living environment. These weekly meetings are essential for the well-being of the seniors, as they allow them to maintain and develop their social links.
Today in France, there are 400 teams and 15,000 volunteers, spread over 12 regions, who are actively committed to the well-being of the most isolated and disadvantaged elderly.
“These flowers bring nothing, except the essential of which every being lives: Love.”
Armand Marquiset – Founder of the Petits Frères des Pauvres
